Policies, procedures and practice guidance
We have joint safeguarding adults policies and procedures with the Derby Safeguarding Adults Board.
If you would like us to provide a copy of our policy and procedures or practice guidance in another format or language, please email derbyshiresab@derbyshire.gov.uk.
Our practice guidance
This operational guidance is for all agencies, staff and volunteers who have a responsibility for the care, support and protection of adults. It has been developed by both the Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Boards with contributions from several partner agencies. The guidance, which is attached to this page, will be updated regularly to ensure that the information remains current.
Adult safeguarding decision making guidance
In addition, the adult safeguarding decision making guidance provides guidance for staff working for all agencies across Derbyshire and Derby City to support them with decision making in relation to making adult safeguarding referrals.
These policies and procedures are reviewed regularly and are a standing item at quarterly board meetings.
Rights of access - gaining access to support an adult 7-minute briefing
This 7-minute briefing, which is attached to this page, provides information about gaining access to support adults, either to provide care or support or as part of the response when it is known or suspected that adults are experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect.
It explains that only police and the local authority have very specific legal options they can pursue and steps that practitioners from other agencies should take.
